Fall/Winter Makeup Look

Now that sweater weather is among us and the days are shorter. I find myself taking a lot longer in the dark mornings spending more time getting ready for the day. I  thought I would write a little post about what I’ve been loving. The last couple weeks I have been loving to rock a deep burgundy smokey eye look. I have a tendency to stick with what I know for face makeup and then play up my eyes depending on the season I’m in. During the summer warmer months I love going a bit more natural with  only light eyeliner and mascara. I have been loving playing up the eye and adding more warm tones with blushes and bronzer. ** Disclaimer I’m not a makeup artist and I don’t claim to be! I’m just a girl who is a little obsessed with pretty makeup things. 🙂

Here’s the products I’ve been using lately.

What is your go to Fall/Winter makeup looks? Do you shake things up seasonal?

Current Favorites

When did this year go by so fast? Wasn’t it just April 1st? Some of my favorite things to watch and read are people’s favorite things from the previous months or likewise. I always find it so interesting hearing or reading what other people are enjoying. I am always into trying something new or finding something exciting. And what better way to start a new month showing what I’ve been loving.

  1. Benefit Hoola Bronzer ($29): Truthfully this one is an older favorite. I have been loving this bronzer for years. However; this past month I’ve been obsessed with using it for a new purpose. For using it on my eyes- paired with a little pit of eyeliner and mascara- something quick and easy to still get the definition of the eye and still keeping it simple and with a tanned and glowy look.
  2. Benefit Dandelion Powder ($15): This is a very new favorite. I’m already obsessed- and I haven’t even had it very long (only a couple hours) however; the reason this is in my list already. Is that I love the effect this powder gives. It gives that little effort to your checks that make you look a little rosy and healthy.
  3. Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealers ($8.99):  It’s at this time of year where in school you are getting minimum hours of sleep and the stress of finals are making you break out a lot more than normal. These concealers are meant to help conceal the extra redness in my face and to help brighten up my under eyes. I put this on after I moisturize my face and before I use my primer. And then after I use my regular concealer and instantly I feel my face looks so much more unified and more refreshed.

  1.  OGX Coconut Milk ($5.75):   Around this time last year I was noticing my hair was drying out and very brittle and taking forever to blow dry. I went to this hair dresser in Spearfish where I was living at the time- who recommend I use an oil like this to help with the split ends and the dryness in-between cuts. After using I can confirm- my hair feels so much healthier.  I squirt a dime size into the palm of my hands after showering and rub it into the ends of my hair.
  2. Rosarco Milk Leave in Conditioner ($20):  I finally decided to splurge a little on myself and signed up for the Fab Fit Fun box. And the first box I got was the Spring box- and let me tell you it’s awesome. This is one thing I got in the box. And I love it! I have never really used leave in conditioners before this one. I squirt this in after my shower and it helps with heat protection and leaving my hair feel nourished all day long.

  1. Lush Tea Tree Water ($22.95): Once again an oldie but a goodie. By nature I have combination skin. In the mornings it tends to be more dry and I’m always a little sleepy and out of sorts so to speak. I’ve been using this for years. However; I would always use it morning and night. Recently I switched to only using it in the morning. And it has been doing wonders for my skin. Before I do my makeup in the morning I feel like my skin is more awake and refreshed- even if I don’t get my six hours of sleep. Bonus- my foundation goes on a little bit better!
  2. Lush D’Fluff Shaving Cream ($12.95):  Ever since I started shaving my legs- I have had sensitive skin (ironically only on my legs?) If I use any razor or shaving cream I find myself breaking out and my legs are covered in red blotchy (painful) rashes and burns. Which makes wearing anything other than jeans out of the question! And who wants to spend their spring/summer in blue jeans!? Other than knowing this shaving cream is made out of natural materials and isn’t irritating my skin it is very gentle and smells like a strawberry patch- BONUS!
  3. Bath and Beauty Works French Lavender Hand Soap ($6.50):  I know I know this seems pretty weird huh- but I love hand soaps! I love knowing that once I leave the bathroom my hands are clean and smelling good too- HECK YEA. I don’t know why I love these soaps so much- but  knowing my hands are clean and that they smell good. Win win?
  4. Lush Reusable Bunch of Carrots ($12.99) *Last Chance!:  I have said it before and I will say it again- Lush just gets it right. Different seasons- the scents go hand in hand. I’m a huge believer in bubble baths- even in the heat of summer. I think sometimes I just need to escape reality and there’s nothing more refreshing to jump into a bubble bath to help ease away the worries of yesterday. I’ve seen other beauty bloggers and Lush creators talk about this for months and I knew I HAD to pick myself up a “bunch” can we just talk about how ridiculously adorable they are!? I almost don’t want to use it- almost!

I know this is kind of an interesting category- but bear with me. For as long as I can remember I have always had problems sleeping. My problem is the whole getting to sleep part- once I’m asleep I stay asleep. I always have blamed my insomnia problems on the fact that I have an over active imagination and that my brain is always going hundred miles per hour! However; I’ve made a vow to myself to help make sleep time important!

  1. Mystic Antidotes Calming Pillow Spray ($19.99):  While in Denver this past month I was walking around TJ Maxx and spotted this little gem! I had heard so many positive remarks on pillow sprays before. As I’ve read up on them and heard from others about it. I always thought yea that is nice for them but I highly doubt it would do anything for me. Oh boy was I wrong! I haven’t slept this hard and well for months! It doesn’t take me long to fall asleep anymore. I shake the bottle after pulling down my sheets and spray all over my bed and within the hour I’m fast asleep!
  2. Tranquil Essential Oil ($4.99): For Christmas my sister bought me an oil diffuser and I love it that I almost got a little sad that the sample Relaxation oil that came with it  ran out. In a effort to find another one similar to the one I loved so much I hit my local Walmart. And I found one probably just as good! Follow the instructions when purchased of putting in the water and then I normally squeeze four to five drops into the diffuser and allow it to do it’s magic!

  1.  Sunflower Hat ($12.00): I love hats. There I said it- yes sometimes it’s just easier to throw on a hat and walk out the door some mornings. I especially love them if I’m going to run some errands, go on a hike, camping, the list is endless. I found this one on a spur of a moment trip to Target and I just had to get it. Sunflower patterns just have that hold on me.
  2. Sunglasses ($12.00):  ‘Tis the season of sunshine! I love sunglasses! However; I’m horrible with sunglasses- I either break them, loose them, or misplace them. I try to buy the cheaper ones. I always pick- kind of the same ones- boring and mundane. Before I left to go to Denver I decided to pick up more unique ones. When I saw these at Walmart I knew I loved them! The dusty pink/rose gold accents- were different enough to pop any outfit I wear. And let’s be honest- I pretty much live in black anyway. 🙂

Any favorites aren’t completed without a random category!

  1. White Barn Lily of the Valley Candle ($24.50):  Just like  bubble baths- I think candles are good anytime of the year! I love candles I always think they make a room complete making the atmosphere whole. Switching out the cozy and “Christmas” ones and hello Spring! White Barn has some amazing ones in right now! I always think Spring floral scents always bring me back to my Grandma’s flower garden growing up. This one is hands down my favorite! Smells of my grandma and some of my favorite flowers. Perfect- not too overwhelming but just strong enough to make my whole room smell if I just had some cut flowers in the room.
  2. The Happiness Journal ($38.00): I’m a planner. Always have been probably always will be. I love journals and I love planning. I have a random obsession with planners and calendars lately. I bought this in January and I liked it but I thought somethings about it were a little far fetched and dare I say silly. I mean I know it’s good to reflect on the week and having weekly goals. The coming up with the weekly goals were the easiest! The problem was going back and reflecting and grading my week. But what I love is planning out my weeks and writing down goals and ideas for that week and accomplishing that. And besides it’s beautiful!

What about you- what are some of the things you have been loving lately?

And hello Spring. I’ve missed you- you are pretty awesome.

How I Clean My Makeup Brushes

In art class you are always taught to clean your brush until the water comes out clear. The reason being you don’t want anyone else to use that brush and mix colors and ruin the other artist vision.

When it comes to makeup brushes it’s kind of the same thing. It’s so important to wash out your makeup brushes for multiple reasons- well one there is bacteria on your face and then when you put on your foundation you are picking up the bacteria from the brush and then it continues. And the second reason is that it’s good to wash out your brushes frequently so when using new colors the colors will be more vibrant and with no residue from previous colors. I tend to stick to the same colors however when I want to shake things up in color wise I wash out the brush.

Even though cleaning your brushes can be a chore that isn’t very fun and takes awhile trust me your skin will thank you in the long run- especially if you are more prone of break outs especially during that time of the month ladies! And it will help cut out the bacteria.

Let the cleaning begin!

The first thing I do I bring all my makeup brushes and a bowl of water (or I just wash them in the sink but for this purpose I just used a bowl of water) And to clean them out I have been using a shampoo I had laying around but any would do.

I like to wash my makeup brushes in sections. I start with laying out my eye makeup brushes dampen the brushes in the water. Take the cleansing product of your choice swirl the brush in the palm of your hand and then rinse and continue until the water off your brush is clear.  And then repeat through all the other sections.

Once your brushes are clean and your water is dirty take the bowl and empty it (if you choose to use a bowl to wash the brushes) once you have clean water I always take my brushes and rinse them again to make sure all the soap is off the brushes and if my brushes were holding any stubborn makeup I repeat the same process.

After washing, and rewashing, and rinsing you are finally done! I like to leave the brushes out to dry on the towel for a little bit and then put them back in their jars to finish drying over night. And then when I wake up and do my makeup I am greeted with fresh and clean brushes!

Let’s Talk: Modesty

“Your dresses should be tight enough to show you’re a woman and loose enough to show you’re a lady.” – Edith Head

I awoke this morning to the birds chirping and the sun shining through. That means one thing- HELLO SPRING! Time to shave off the winter weight: of extra sweaters, leggings, boots, and coats. It’s time to pull out the sun dresses, lighter colors, shorts, and sandals. However; there is often a misconception on fashion in the Spring and Summer times.

I love fashion. I love mixing and matching vintage style into simple and elegant pieces all awhile respecting myself and holding myself up to a certain standard. I always want to be modest. Not just for others around me but more for myself. I want to show the world that I respect who I am. And better yet whose I am. However; that doesn’t mean I can’t have a little bit of fun. That doesn’t mean I have to be covered head to to in yaarrrdds of fabric and endless layers. It means I can wear a dress that is a little bit above my knee, it means I can wear a shirt that has a deep “V”, and it means I can wear shorts a little shorter.

When you hear the word modesty what do you think? You think of skirts, turtlenecks, close toe shoes- well allow me to debunk some of those lies for you. It’s amazing what I hear when someone says- “I can’t find anything.” or “Modesty is this (fill in the blank)” well allow me to be frank. Modesty isn’t about covering up EVERY inch of your body, you don’t have to feel like you have to constantly be covered up or covering up. You can feel good about yourself and even better- you can love yourself! Modesty isn’t wearing clothes that a size or two bigger than your actual size or hiding your body. It’s about wearing clothes that are true to size and loving your body and embracing the size you are at the moment.

My best fashion advice I have ever heard was know yourself- know what shapes look good on you. Know what colors you feel confident in. And lastly know your size! It’s so import that your clothes fit you. Trends will come and go but the classics will never go out of style.

God created women. He knows the shape of a lady and we need to dress for the shape we have. That’s what is so beautiful of being a lady- there are so many shapes! We need to feel comfortable and confident in your look and what you wear. I don’t think that should be an issue.

For me I like to dress to impress for myself. I understand there are people in this world and that people make up an opinion before a word is even spoken. But I know for me- I always try to only show case one thing either my chest or a lot more leg. So lets say I wear short shorts I would pair it with a form fitting crew neck t-shirt and a shorter kimono on top. So the main focus is my legs. Or I would wear a longer skirt and wear a lower neckline.

Let’s begin with the bottom of the body being a girl means we have SO many different options for how we want to dress the lower parts of our body. We have shorts, skirts, jeans, and the list goes on. There are so many different subcategories in those categories alone. When you think of modesty you think of long maxi like skirts and jeans that don’t hug your leg. Well I’m sorry that isn’t the case. You can wear jeans that are skinny legged- to make it a little bit more modest don’t wear low rise that will display your underwear or having a muffin top hang out (which isn’t very cute to begin with!) Jeans are such a wardrobe stable! There are so many different options out there to dress up or down. There is a myth out there where it says if you wear jeans wear a longer top- I say NO! My rule of thumb here is- how are you wearing your top? Are you tucking it in? Are you leaving it out? How you put together an outfit is your masterpiece. You decide.

Next shorts: once again so many different categories there is shorts that go down to your knee there’s “short” shorts. Now- here’s my rule of thumb it is okay to wear shorts that are on the shorter side. See I love the idea of the shorter shorts. They make your legs look long and lean. And who doesn’t want that? However; I say you can still wear shorter shorts and still be modest. Are they showing anything? Can people see your butt cheeks? Is it a little bit longer in the back then- perfect!  If no- then maybe not wear those. I personally like high waist shorts they look better on my body type.  If it follows those three things then I don’t see any reason why your shorts should be to your knees.

Skirts are next! I love skirts! I’m going to combine my two favorite style of skirts. I love “skater” skirts I do stand by the fact that a skirt should be pass your fingertips OR to your fingertips. To make it a bit more modest you can always wear light tights under the skirt during the Spring days that are a little chilly. And in the days that are a little bit more like Summer wear some spandex under the skirt. Not showing anything but still being able to wear a shorter skirt. Now onto a length I’m obsessed with right now- I like to call my “Audrey Hepburn” length. Which is the mid length. I’m loving having a skirt meet a little bit above my knee and a little high waist instead of all the way to the floor. *Side Note: I’m 5’5 on the “shorter” side  of a 5’5 women and I feel like  maxi skirts can sometimes look like they are eating me. It looks like I’m shorter than I am. That’s why I LOVE the mid length that hit me right above or below my knee. Giving me a little bit more height*

Like bottoms there are so many different types of tops some that are more form fitting, halter tank tops, spaghetti tank tops, baggy, V neck, and the list goes on. I say you shouldn’t be afraid to rock any of them! I personally love the form fitting t-shirts tucked into high waist shorts and skirts. A blouse is always a good option-  tucked into bottoms wear a cami underneath and easy outfit. Deep “V” shirts and baggy t-shirts I always say are the perfect companion to a simple pair of jeans. Rule of thumb: with a deep “V” bend down- can you see your bra? Then the V is too deep without something under it. If not skip adding an unnecessary layer.

I love dresses. I’m a girly girl at heart. I love lace and floral. And doing spins in a fancy dress. And I always think it’s always the easiest option when getting up in the morning. With a lower “V” in a dress you don’t want to wear a heavy cami if you aren’t wearing leggings and want to keep it light and airy sew the “V” up a little bit to the desired length. Don’t be afraid to rock a little spaghetti strap dress and don’t be afraid to wear a shorter length dress I always say if it follows the rule of a shorter skirt go for it!

Like makeup- fashion is so much fun. With fashion you can be anything. Why do you think little girls (and little boys) love playing dress up, spinning, and strutting. The main “secret” in all this is that whatever you wear you feel beautiful and confident. How you present yourself to people is what people will take away from it. I always ask myself before leaving my house: “What do I want to say with this outfit?” and “How do I want to be treated”. When out shopping I always ask myself- “Do I really love it?” “How can I incorporate it into my wardrobe” “How can I fix it to make it more modest?” We are all uniquely beautiful- how it hangs on a hanger is just that- “hanging” once you put it on it takes on a whole new life!

Don’t be afraid to dress modest. Don’t be afraid to rock clothes that will speak to you that will showcase who you are: a beautiful daughter of God. And honestly that’s probably the best job you will ever have. Modesty is always more than wearing a trash bag its more about being respectful to yourself for yourself.

Three Spring Skincare Picks

One of my favorite times of the day is always when I get to wash my face and take the time to relax and wash off the day. I’m always trying different skin care products. As the season changes it’s time to step away from the heavy moisturizers and focusing on the dry skin. The Winter blues had caused. As it is Spring now- I find I want to allow my skin to breathe more, be energized, and hydrated. Especially after  wearing heavy makeup and having colder weather conditions take a bigger toll.

Neutrogena Natural Purifying Pore Scrub ($6.94)  When I had heard the face scrub that I had been using was recalled and I ended up having more breakouts than ever. I decided I needed to look for a scrub that would be soft on my skin and be a deeper clean at the same time. I had seen a lot of reviews on this one and knew I had to give it a try. I’m so happy I did! I’m not usually one who has huge breakouts. Except for that time of the month that I have one or two. Most of the time I get breakouts that are under the skin. After only a couple times using I have barely any breakouts and my skin is feeling refreshed, hydrated, and less discoloration.

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask ($17)   While out shopping in Sephora in December to repurchase my favorite mascara I ended up purchasing this little gem in the check out aisle. It is very heavy and thick I wouldn’t recommend using it nightly. I personally use it religiously three times a week. Incorporating it into my weekly skin routine I have noticed a difference waking up in the morning with my skin feeling very appreciative of the little extra treatment I had given my skin the previous night.

Garnier Skinactive Moisture Rescue ($6.69) Truthfully I actually bought this accidentally when I was looking for something else. And let me tell you- I actually LOVE this product. I use this after I cleanse my face and before I put on my moisturizer. This gel cream gives you a non-greasy and lightweight consistency. What I love is that it feels amazing on the skin and just adds a little bit more to my skin. After using I instantly feel like my skin is automatically thanking me and drinking it up.

Once my skin is feeling balanced and clean I always feel like everything is better- my makeup looks better and I have more confidence. I say- invest in skin care and take care of your skin. Your face and your confidence will thank you in the long run. Besides we all want that “no make up” make up look that looks effortlessly and beautiful. So I say- while you are getting the “beach bod” work on getting the clear skin as well!

What are your favorite Spring skin care products?

Valentine’s Day Look

Where’s all my single ladies at?

Just because you are single this Valentine’s Day who says you can’t have fun too? So I say let’s rock those little red dresses, do your makeup, and go and have fun!

I have been loving this look lately- I think I’m obsessed! I like to call it a rose gold smokey eye look. I love makeup- I love everything about it honestly so why not rock out a complete face of makeup. Pull yourself away from the chocolate bowl, and cozy sweats. Because my friend- you are worth it!

Let’s get started on this look:

First thing I do is I prime my face. I have been using this Neutrogena Healthy Skin Primer. The primer will help with any redness you naturally have in your face and will help with the foundation stay on your face all day long. Next I use this Maybelline Cover Stick Corrector Concealer. I have naturally red blotches on my face. Using this will help with my foundations on top to have a consistent look. Finally I use my ELF Eye Shadow Lock Eyelid Primer. If you have naturally oil eyelids- I would recommend looking into a eyelid primer, I have found using one helps with having your eye shadow to stay put all day and no transfer.

Next it’s time to move onto foundation or what I like to call the base- if the foundation or base of your makeup isn’t done correctly- well then the rest of the makeup look just won’t look very well- I’m afraid. First I use my Maybelline Super Stay Better Skin Camouflant Corrector. I have the color light medium. I use this on any redness I might have or any zits that are coming. Next I put on my Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles in the color light- for my under eyes. That will help brighten them up. Hint- instead of just applying this directly under my eyes I create a giant “V” shape bringing it down a little ways to create the look of a more rested Emily.

Now I move onto foundation- I have actually been using two lately. The reason being because I love both of these foundations but my skin needs a little bit of both to create a more united and pulled together look. And besides like the saying goes- two are better than one. So I have been mixing together my all time favorite foundation 24 Hour Wear Revlon Colorstay for Combination/Oily Skin in the color ivory with L’Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup in the color light ivory together to create a high coverage and start building that masterpiece.

Next I powder! Does anyone else when they think of powder they think of those big beautiful pots you would find back in the Victorian age- to get that pale look that was oh so desirable? No- just me cool. But let me tell you those pots and the big applicator was pretty impressive. Okay moving on I have been loving using Cover Girl Professional loose powder I feel like it’s actually working on my face and really sealing in what I had just done beforehand. First I use my Real Technique beauty blender and tap some underneath my eyes. Following that I use my big powder brush and cover the rest of my face.

Moving onto our eyes! Yippie- to begin I like to start doing my eyebrows! I like to think that your eyebrows are the frame of your face. Have you ever seen a picture of a person who doesn’t have eyebrows? It always looks way off! And besides it is always said that your eyes are the window to your soul. And windows have boarders well I like to think that my eyebrows are that boarder. I don’t really want to spend too much time on them so I use the Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara in soft brown .

Well hello eyes! Finally we are on the stage where you can start dressing up your look- your eyes! First I take ELF Molten Liquid Eye Shadow in the color Rose Gold all over the lid. I do tend to do a couple of coats to make sure that the color is how I want it to look. I do have an obsession with always going over my eye shadows multiple times. Next on top of that I take my ELF Baked Eye Shadow Trio in the color Peach Please I take a eye shadow brush and use the pink shadow in the trio and put it all over my eyelid.

Moving on I use my Revlon Colorstay Eye Shadow Palette in the color Decadent. I use number 2 in the palette which is a beautiful golden pinkish color and I put that in my crease all the way before reaching the brow bone. Then to highlight my brow bone I take the lightest shade in the palette which is like a baby pink. Finally I use the darkest shade to add dimension to my eye in the outer corner of my eye. I begin with an angled brush beginning in my crease and bringing it out- almost making a sideways “V”. Lastly I take a blending brush to blend everything together making it cohesive together.

I’m almost done with the eyes- I swear! After curling my eyelashes I take my Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum Liquid Eyeliner in Ultra Black very carefully lining my lash line. Following by with L’Oreal Paris 16 Hour Infalliable Never Fail Eyeliner in black on my tightline and my waterline or where your bottom eyelashes are.

Yay- we are FINALLY to my favorite part! Mascara- I think mascara says it all. Running behind just put on some mascara and boom you look so much more awake besides the fact you just consumed more than 3+ double shot espressos. I don’t normally wear four mascara’s but I do love to double them up! Besides- things just work together better.

First I go in with Benefits Roller Lash in black on both top and bottom lashes.Secondly I put on Benefit’s They’re Real in black on my bottom lashes (sometimes I will put it on both to add even more dimension.) Thirdly I will put on L’Oreal’s Voluminous False Fiber Lashes in black lacquer on my top lashes to add more volume. And lastly I will finish it up on both top and bottom lashes with L’Oreal’s Voluminous Butterfly Sculpt in blackest black (and I will brush off most of the excess) and apply on both top and bottom lashes.

Around this time I will take my beauty blender and start “cleaning” up or “erasing” any excess eye shadow that might have fallen off or clean up any little oopsies.

Going back to my face to bring back in some color – I start contouring my face with my ELF Contour Palette I’m using the medium shade the one that almost looks like you just got back from a beach vacation. I usually take my brush under my cheek bones like if you sucked in your cheeks like a fish, my temples where my hairline is on my forehead. And then I repeat all that with my Benefit Hoola Bronzer as well- as take that a little bit below my chin bone. Adding in some pretty pinks to my face I add in some blush. I am using my very old and trusted ELF Blush Palette in Light. I am using the two bottom blushes and mixing them a little bit together.

And lastly we are officially done with the makeup! To wrap it up I am applying a very pale almost natural color onto my lip it’s a Kate by Rimmel London lipstick in number 17 in the color ‘Rossetto’ and touching it up with Rimmel London’s 16 Hour Kiss Proof Lip Color in the shade 110 Dare to Pink.

Off to the closet we go! Time to get dressed. I say for special events it’s good to kick up your heels every now and then. Time to take out that LRD. I think every woman’s closet should have a LBD and of course a little LRD. I will show you how I like to style a little red dress for any occasion.

I would say my fashion sense is very simple. I like what I like and really that’s it. I love being modest and allowing my clothes to be the conversation piece. I love pairing something that seems simple like this very simple skater dress paired with some black leggings (I mean it IS still winter after all!) and then to pop out the red a little bit and to make the outfit a little bit more polished and interesting- I paired it with this BEAUTIFUL red blueish floral long kimono. I really love kimono’s if I’m being honest. It’s almost like a small step up from wearing a blanket! Honestly I’m not much of a heel person so I sub out a heel for a pretty black suede boot.

The second look I love rocking is actually what I like to call rocker girly. I mean we all want to channel our inner Sandy from Grease. I mean I know I do! Ha! I love mixing things together that can say two things. The lace on the dress can say- yes, I love girly things and lace. While my leather jacket can say- don’t mess with me.. 😉 Adding to the chill out vibe I rocked out my white airwalk converse.

One of my style tips- I would say you don’t have to spend a fortune to look nice. I honestly; don’t like spending too much money on clothes especially if I can get great bargains on clothes and then take them home and mix them with clothing that I have spent a little bit more on. It’s good to reward yourself but not everything in your closet has to be name brand. Now let’s talk accessories- I think they are great. But I like to be simple with it. I like to say one person (or accessory) to do the talking. Everything else should compliment that one major thing. That will really help tie in the entire outfit and make it seem effortless and timeless.

Now that you have pried yourself away from the chocolate, sweats, and leaving your own pity party that you are single. It’s time to rock! Who say’s Valentine’s Day is for only those who are in a relationship? Get together with your single girls- eat chocolate, eat food, and just cherish that season together maybe even pull out the classic board game- Dream Phone. Just have fun- laugh a little and just cherish the moment with those who you love.

Happy Valentine’s Day! Let me know- what are your plans for Valentine’s Day? And how would you style a little red dress? What is your go to makeup look right now?

Winter Night Routine

Something about taking time out for yourself is one of those things to never loose sight of. During the winter I always find it the easiest to let your hair down and unwind and take a breath and relax and little. I come home from work and typically either eat a snack or two and then eventually go and work out and then catch up on any chores or extra work I had to get done.

Finally around 8 to 9 at night I close down my laptop and decide to stop doing any type of work for the evening and take some time and calm down and unwind. The first thing I do actually is wash my face free of any makeup or dirt from the day. I actually think washing my face is one of my favorite things to do. If I have a clean face and wearing comfortable clothes on- I one hundred percent already feel so much relaxed.

First thing if I’m wearing any eye makeup I use a cotton pad and take it off with eye make up remover. This night however; I wasn’t wearing any eye makeup so I jumped a step and went into step two!  IMG_2920.jpg

First I wet my entire face and then I squeeze some into my palms and start washing my entire face with the scrub. Using a warm wash cloth I wash off the scrub.

Step two I wet another cotton pad with Garnier Micellar Water- I love this stuff! It makes my skin feel amazing and clean to boot and who doesn’t love feeling like they know for sure that their face is clean without a trace of makeup or dirt.

You all know how much I love a good bubble bath- something about surrounded by candles and just taking my mind off of anything. I have this thing if I wake up cold that morning with a chill it stays for hours- and honestly that is probably every day in the winter.

I love baths- the perfect place to clear your head and to help prepare myself for the next day or to help ease the day’s woes away down the drain. While the  water is running I go into my bedroom and make it all cozy. I switch on the bed warmer, turn on the Christmas lights to make my room all cozy and keeping the warm and coziness going.

After my room is done I make the bathroom all cozy! I light a few candles, grab my laptop, go through my Lush collection and pick the best! Once I have made my decision I’m set!

To add in more bubbles I love to use a little bit of a bubble bath!

And I’m set! I set up my laptop and I’m good to go! While in the bath I like to stay relaxed and calm while catching up on some YouTube or catching up on one of my favorite shows on Netflix- it all depends on my mood.

While I’m in the bath I like to use this time as a little pamper time and a little me time too. After I relax for awhile and the bubbles are slowly disappearing. I sometimes shave my legs. I have very sensitive legs- to prevent I use a sensitive razor and baby oil.

While I’m in the bath I love to focus on my face as well- while I’m relaxing I love to focus on my face as well. After I wash my face and cleanse it I love to use a mask to get a deeper clean as well.

I love these Biore self heating on minute mask- they are amazing! All you have to do is wet your face and then open the packet rub it together and apply to your face. Apply and the mask will automatically heat up and is doing the job automatically. Quick and easy!

While in the tub you have to clean your body don’t ya? I love to use a body scrub and then using a body scrub brush to get rid of the dead skin. I have been using and loving the new Lush’s Salt and Peppermint Bark body scrub- smells like Christmas! IMG_2898.jpg

Next a body conditioner to smooth out all the dead skin I just scrapped off my body- and it gives your body a tingling sensation and feeling oh so soft!

Once done with my bubble bath I instantly put on my pajamas. This time of year I automatically reach for my Christmas themed pajamas. I’m wearing red and green plaid pants that I got from Target and then I paired it with a Christmas shirt that I got from Etsy from here.

After I get into my pajama’s- I go back into the bathroom and finish washing my face. I use my Lush Tea Tree toner water. Then use my Burt’s Bee Herbal Blemish Stick. And the finish it off with my Cetaphil moisturizer.

Once I’m done in the bathroom I go back to my room and grab my lotion and apply it all over my body to add more moisture to my body from the body conditioner and the bubble bath from earlier.

After my face is washed I go into the kitchen and make myself a cup of tea. You know the saying a cup of tea before bed helps good dreams come to you. Okay maybe not but a cup of tea before bed just goes together and sometimes I help myself to a little treat!

And I climb into my nice warm bed- and put on a movie or watch some TV. I go on my computer to go on social media or catch up on YouTube or do some last minute writing or editing. Once’s my tea is gone  I bring my tea cup back to the kitchen and I head back to my bathroom to brush my teeth and set my alarm and start getting ready for bed. And then I go back to my bed and put on more lotion on my feet put on some socks. Then I take my vitamins. I have always had a hard time getting to sleep at night.

I am one of those weird people who needs to have something playing in the background when I go to sleep I think it’s because I have an overactive imagination and listening to something else helps quiet my mind. I normally listen to my Calm.com app or I love to listen to When Calls The Heart or another movie or TV show that I love and familiar with. Finally I use some lip scrub and chap stick- because let’s be honest chapped lips in the winter are no fun!

And now it’s finally for this girl to catch some beauty sleep! But last but not least I put on a little bit of sleepy time lotion on my hands so while I sleep I can smell my hands- ha!

The only thing I have left to say- Sweet Dreams!

What do you do on your pamper night?
